Hawaii is home to all branches of the U.S. armed forces, including U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Space Command. The Army National Guard and the Air National Guard are reserve components of their services and operate in part under state authority. The Department of the Navy is the largest contracting entity in Hawaii, followed by the Department of the Army and Air Force in second and third place respectively.

There are 12 key military installations and bases across the state that support the U.S. armed forces. The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) is a combatant command headquartered in Hawaii. USINDOPACOM has four subordinate Component Commands, U.S. Marine Forces Pacific, U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. Army Pacific, and U.S. Pacific Air Forces. The Fourteenth Coast Guard District is headquartered in Honolulu. Within these facilities and commands, there are numerous offices and operations that are responsible for thousands of contracts across the state.
